In the midwest I went through the most bizarre straight line winds. What was very dark during daylight suddenly became bright white. I couldn't see one foot outside my front door. It was like a blizzard in July.

But the worst was the Floods of 93. My place flooded, the water and rain just would not stop. It ruined a truck, foundations, and then came the snakes and mosquitos. My driveway was underwater.

I'll never forget 93.

I've been through so many tornado warnings I can't even remember how many. Once when I was a small kid I still remember the skies turning yellow, and a horrible sour smell and this roaring sound but luckily I never actually saw the tornado and it didn't touch down where I was. I did see a waterspout in a swimming pool before. Now that was cool. We watched it in the parking lot stirring up dust and then it moved right on into the pool. It was kind-of freaky.

It was the "No-name" storm that hit the west coast of Florida about 15 years ago. It was high tide with winds coming in off of the gulf at 90 miles per hour. At 4 a.m. our kids woke us up and said the living room floor was wet so my husband and I got up and as we came through the family room we could see out the sliding glass doors that the water was already about 2 feet deep outside. Our cars were already underwater so all we could do was put every thing as high as possible. We ended up with 4 1/2 feet of salt water in our house. We lost everything we owned. The house had to be rebuilt and we had to live in a motel for a long time.

We have since moved away from the water.

I stay in twister alley, too, like CJ. we've had many extreme tornados right here, fortuitously I even have not in my view been in a single, and desire to on no account be. The worst catastrophe I even have been in grew to become into the ice typhoon 2 weeks in the past, while our section misplaced potential, some human beings for greater desirable than each week, and a great variety of bushes and harm to properties. We misplaced a pair of bushes and had roof harm to our porch, and there are nonetheless extensive piles of brush everywhere that would desire to be wiped clean up and burned, yet we've been fortunate, lots of human beings misplaced plenty greater desirable than that. i'm stunned CJ did no longer point out the ice typhoon that SW Missouri and Springfield suffered las January, we've been there some days later and 40 miles out of Spgfld and each of how into and over the city grew to become into such devastating harm to the bushes that it appeared like a conflict zone. i do no longer think of there grew to become right into a backyard in the entire city that did no longer have bushes down or extreme tree harm, plus harm to the homes. In the two circumstances, the entire section grew to become into declared a catastrophe section.

The 7.1 Loma Prieta quake in 1989. I was watching the Giants/A's World Series and they had to cancel the game. Crazy.
