I have used all and store brands are cheaper and work just as well so it is a personal choice though.

First of all, I think buying diapers now, when your only 12 weeks pregnant is a little premature, but I guess it does save you time later down the road. As for what brand works best? I think Pampers is probably the best quality, especially their newborn selection, such as Swaddlers. But it is also the most expensive. If your more interested in saving money, go with Huggies. I would stay away from Luvs or other store brands. Their quality is just not up to par.
You can never really tell when exactly your child will be ready for the next size up. My daughter is 15 months, where's a size 4 and has stayed at a size 4 for almost 4 months now. Every child is different, so you'll just have to wait and see.
Congratulations on your future bundle of joy, and best of luck!

It is a good idea to buy diapers now i would buy maybe 2 or 3 packs of newborn if that b/c you can always take the ones they give you at the hospital and every time there is a shift change of nurses ask for more diapers. also buy a lot of ones they will last up to like 3 or 4 months old. My daughter has been in a size 3 since she was like 7 months old and she is now 13 months so we have stayed in that size a lot but definatly buy a lot of ones because at the beginning you will use the most of those we only used newborn for 2 weeks or so b/c she was 8 lb at birth

yes, i find that to be a good idea. only i would buy one pack every two weeks. only if i thought of that when i was pregnant. i would also label the store that it came from just in case the brand and your baby are not a good match, so that u can return it.
i believe size 2 lasted the longest. newborn size lasted about 1 month, so i would get about 5 pkg of newborn size. and 5 pkg of size 1. than i would stop buying diapers because where would u store everything.

I know that people say that about buying diapers ahead of time, but I really don't think it is that practical. You never know how long your baby will be in a certain size, and you could potentially spend a lot of money on dipaers your baby will outgrow before you use them. For instance, my son was in N size for less than 3 weeks, and 1 size for only a few more weeks. He was in size 2 forever, but my friends baby virtually skipped size 2. I think your friends have a nice thought, but it isn't practical. You WILL need a million wipes, though!!

My advice is to get a few different sizes & brands because each fits a baby differently. Ex. my son is a VERY slim 18mo old but I put him in a size 5 (which is normally too large for 18mo) because, while his waist is slim, his thighs are chubby. I know that each time you go up a size you lose a few dipes in the pack...but we rarely get leaks with this bigger size of the Wal-Mart brand. Anyway, my point is that you won't know what type you like until you experiment. Just make sure to save your receipts so that you exchange any that you don't like.

I would not start so early. You don't know how long you baby will stay in one size. I tried pampers and huggies but after my son was 2 months old decided to try the cheap brand from walmart, Parents Choice and found it was better on leaks at night and was half the price of the brand name ones.
Your choice but if they do the same job why pay more.

For my son, Huggies seemed to work the best. He was allergic to Pampers though. Newborn and size 1 diapers, they go through them so fast. Stock up on the size 2's. You'll get plenty of newborns and ones at your baby shower!

Now that I've used cloth for over a year, disposables repulse me. I recommend looking into cloth and avoiding the whole run-to-Wal-Mart-in-the-middle-of-the-night fiasco.
Check out www.diaperpin.com. There is lots of information there. This place has all the cool new diapers and the old standby prefolds and pull-on pants (NOT vinyl) www.cottonbabies.com. Cloth diapers do not leak, no rash, more convenient, cost less and are way cuter and more fun! Plus, they're better for the earth!

yeah stock up now!! who knows if you will have time to run to the store! thats what i did...but youre baby might be born bigger or smaller so the first diapers that you use may be bigger than the newborn diapers (had a friend who just had a 9+ lb boy and cant wear the newborn)...but definetly get like 2 or 3 packs of the 2s & 3s!!!
