Maybe this isn't for me to answer, but I do care about this...
As and outsider looking in, who has friends that have to cope. Yes they do get a raw deal.
During pregnancy to start with, and then on the return to work.
Until this country has creches attached to the work place, with larger firms, as they do on the continent, things won't get better, for families with babies and young children.
If other countries can do it, and it works well, why can't we?

I gave up work when I was pregnant and had my two children, so I wouldn't know. I went back to work when they were older but found employers were prejudiced as to whether I could do the job or not because I had kids at home!

I worked until I was 8 months pregnant, and at 8 months, my boss had the AUDACITY to ask me to clean the toilets!! On top of that, she wanted me to use ammonia. She had never been pregnant-and that was certainly obvious. Of course, after this request, I left and never went back. Some bosses just think that women use pregnancy as a cop out.

I don't know- but they think they're still small but they're as big as whale and constantly knock stuff over.
Then they eat all the bickies from the tea room and keep the non-reproducing females waiting forever to use the lav so my female staff become riddled with cystitis.
And then they ask for paid leave for getting banged up?
Christ save us all.

I did. I was given crappy hours before, because they knew I'd be going on leave, and then crappy hours after, because the schedule I'd been promised was given to somebody else. It happens. All that's required in CA is that there's a job to come back to - they could make you mop the bathroom floors, it's still a job.

I didn't but it was my store and my rules. Only took off 2 weeks, however. How many of those new moms were just whiners?
