Religion is man made. It is an attempt to reach God through a regimen of dos and donts. So when you say religion, do you mean Shiite, Muslim, Christianity etc? or any belief? It also depends on how strongly you follow what you believe. If you use "weak" as a word defining the character of the individual, I would say no, following a religion does not make you weak. As an example i give you the Christians of the first century who, rather than give up their faith, faced all kind of death through torture. It is even recorded in history that a vast majority of those that died this way, went to their death without uttering as much as a groan.

Spiritually weak? Philosophically weak? Physically weak? I think that you could find references both pro and con in terms of all of the aforementioned. Some religious people are weak, others are not. Like any human endeavor, it would be a mixture, and it would be intellectually dishonest to a abstract from a particular negative example and ascribe that quality to the whole. There might be a little bit of the influence of secular modernity and maybe Nietzsche behind your inquiry. If this is the case, I think by weakness you might mean weakness of character or intellect. I would advise making a prudential judgement about that. Would you consider Mother Teresa to have a weak character? Or Thomas Aquinas to be intellectually weak? You might disagree with their faith and their convictions, but you would be hard pressed to justify describing them as being weak in either character or intellect. As far as physical weakness, I have convictions of faith and can personally attest to a pretty good bench press (300 pounds).

Actually, i believe that people who believe and practice their religion are very strong. Most people probably heard this already but, your religion can help you over come a problem. For example, Muslims: if they look into their Quran they can find the solution to something if they are having a problem. Your religion makes you stronger in different points. So my answer to your question is no.

People who blindly practice religion are not only weak, but ignorant and lazy (lazy enough to subscribe to a cookie-cutter set of prescribed beliefs).
People who TRULY believe in their religion cannot be faulted for it. They are simply searching for a meaningful existence, as are all human beings. Their need for a God does not make them weak, but emphasizes their deeply human qualities (they are recognizing their inferiority to this supernatural deity, and summoning help from Him). To ask for guidance and help is definitely not a weakness, but a strength. After all, life is complicated, and we all need as much help as we can get. If we can't get help from each other (especially in these troubled times) then it is no mistake to supplicate God.

Everybody need something to believe in. That's why religion is popular worldwide. Everybody need principles to follow in life, to have confidence and security. I think that people should search and try to be open - minded. Some religions are very naive and restrictive. I find it rather like narrow - mindedness than weakness to continue to believe in something that is nonsensical.

They are searching, and perhaps confused, in need of something to lean on - having found that the people in their lives, including their own selves, are not strong enough to meet this need. They feel that they require guidance from an authoritative source. This does not necessarily make them weak.

Anybody who is actively trying to find answers regarding
their existence cannot be judged one way or the other.
It's their path and has absolutely nothing to do with anyone
else. Voicing any opinion on this is a complete waste
of time. You can only tell people what you believe if
they ask. I always find debates on this unproductive
as it's all based on speculation. Better to discuss the
best way to make Ravioli.

It depends on their reasons for believing and practicing. No two people are the same. If they are doing it to conform, or out of a fear of death, they may want to rethink that position. If they are practicing it to be better people and get closer to God, I say go for it.
