Results of poll on 3-25 to3-27-07:

Do you think the US should set a timeline for the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq that would have most troops out by Sept. 2008?

Should Should Not
Overall 59% 37%
Rep. 36% 63%
Dem. 77% 20%
Indep. 59% 34%

It looks to me like the only people pissed about the Congress' bill are Republicans. If you would like to try to discredit the poll, please got to pollingreport.com, where you will see several polls from various sources, all overwmelmingly in support of withdrawal.

I am an independent I do no think we should set a deadline for pulling out of Iraq. If you go back and look at the speeches given by Democrats before the election last fall most of them said that the we should not set a deadline for withdrawal (Hillary included among them). I wonder what made them change their minds . . . maybe that they won the election and they now think that they no longer have to live up to their campaign promises.

The line must have sounded good to him. Or, perhaps I'm giving him too much credit, the line must have sounded good to his speechwriters. Just like the line he used to ramp up the conflict with Iran over the British sailors "it's inexcusable behavior."
