In our society today not many people believe that cloning is ethical. Im doing a research paper for one of my english classes. What i want to know is what do you think about cloning? Do you think it should happen? Do you think that it will be beneficial to our society? If the world would end today and scientists had found a way for us to live on mars, the only problem is, is that we would have to be cloned, would you do it or would you stay and die with the world? Do any of you know where i can find some web sites to get more research on the subject of Cloning?

Touchy subject, but you really have to be careful when you talk about cloning, because it does not necessarily always mean whole organisms.

In today's world, we do actually do some cloning that is extremely important. In fact it is done everyday in labs across the world.

Cloning allows scientists to produce whole colonies of identical microorganisms--many of which cause disease--in order to effectively study them and test them for possible cures.

Today, we are working on cloning organs in order to prevent organ rejection, which would be an amazing breakthrough in transplantation surgery.

However, there are indeed ethical issues. In fact, its so simple a procedure that politicians and diplomats are worried about the ability to produce large quantities of disease-causing agents, large numbers of people to build armies, etc.

So, while it can be very beneficial for the world, it has to be very carefully regulated by government, because even I, who is not religious whatsoever, sees that there are ethical issues that go far beyond defying the idea of creationism.

It is unethical and it is also VERY dangerous. Nature keeps up with diseases and other problems through evolution. Natural selection and reproduction strengthens immunity by creating ever changing mixtures. Cloning does not follow this same process.

For example, consider one male and one female were cloned into hundreds of people and those clones were taken to live on Mars. It would be like 100% inbreds. They would all suffer the same vulnerabilities and most likely they would be easily wiped out by a virus or they could all end up schitzo because it's in their "genes". Cloning is like super inbreeding and on a massive scale it would put any species at a great risk of extinction. Hope that makes sense.

Don't have any websites.
Have you heard the latest on the "cloned sheep"?
On examination of their inner organs, it was discoverd that they are not exact duplicates of naturally born sheep.
15 % of the innards are closer to human. How 'bout that?
Maybe if we clone humans, we will be part alien. EH!

My view is to leave cloning to replacement body parts. Lots of research going on.

Cloning exists. I think it would be great it they could clone me a new heart and hip from my own tissue. (A new brain would be nice too)
