The race for president in 2008 is underway and that has me thinking, many presidents with low aproval rating in office are well liked after there time in office ends. Many others just live private lives out of sight. What do you think?

Better than Jimmy Carter and less than Ronald Reagan.

Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon, Truman, Eisenhower, the list goes on. All bad presidents in office, great presidents when they were out. I can just hear the screams of the people at the next president, Why don't you have some of the backbone of Bush? Always the same, president after president. Remember the 14 and 15 year old kids will be 18 and 19. You are the people they will blame for messing up the country.

I think G.W. will be one of the presidents that is liked after he steps out of office. I know I will probably get slammed for saying this but he has done a pretty good job considering the circumstances. Our economy is doing well, we haven't had a catastrophe since 9/11, and he took out one of the most evil men that has ever lived (Hitler like).

Folks for those people out there that don't believe we should still be in Iraq or Afghanistan, walk up to a service man or woman and ask them what they think. My brother, my best friend and cousin have all served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, (brother and cousin are still in Iraq) and they tell me how gratifying it is to know that they are so appreciated by MOST of the people in both Iraq and Afghanistan. It is sad that when they are in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting for what is right, so many people come up to them and thank them on a daily basis for getting a tyrant out and helping eliminate the terrorist cells within their homeland. Yet they come back for a stay and barely one of us Americans walks up to them and thanks them for serving our country.

How Bizarre wouldn't you say???!!

BTW- I can also remember early on that G.W.'s approval rating I believe was among the highest at one point.

I think they will like him out of office more than they do in. The same could be said for others in office beside the president though.

George Bush will not leave his office in 2008, didn't you read the war powers act? After he invades Iran, he will have to stay in office "for the good of the country".

To tell you the truth, I never gave it any thought. I guess the idea of being liked or not never occurred to me. Doing what is right whether or not it is popular is what motivates me.

I think America appreciates what the President has tried to do. If not the democrats would not try to demonize him so much.

I think over time people will forget the smaller scandals, but overall he'll still be considered the worst President in US history. The Iraq war is the biggest fiasco/lie ever perpetrated on the American people, and the money wasted on it, will tie our hands economically for decades.

I really wouldn't know what to tell you. Remember Richard M. Nixon? There's rumours he was bumped off!
