YOu are so right. That's why I'm no longer a Republican.

Good to hear from you again Chi-man. OK dude, here's the story - I have been a conservative for 45 years. I know where I am coming from. You are right, conservatives 30-40 years ago would certainly have run Dems like Bill Clinton "out on a rail". Thank God we don't face that today.

Run what crooks out on a rail? Are you talking American politics? 30-40 years ago the biggest crooks were Republicans, and lots of ordinary Republicans supported him to the very end.

What crooks are you talking about? If you are referring the ones that are currently running congress, then yes I agree.

You've hit on one of the main reasons that this Independent voter has trouble foreseeing voting for any Republican again. It has become more important to them to defend their party than rooting out corruption from within their party. Not to mention they're sitting on the fence about Bush's war policies when it comes to votes, but running their mouths about how they don't agree with him before they vote. I really think it's a result of them feeling so powerful before the mid-terms and being snarky because they've lost that previously unchallenged power to badly needed checks and balances. During Nixon's scandal they didn't hesitate to join the effort to kick corruption out of their party. Now they just put blinders on and spin it anyway they have to in order to deny anything wrong has occurred. It's disturbing, I agree, and they aren't doing anything but cutting their own throats.

Look no further than Watergate. The bi-partisan committees and hearings were after Nixon and his gangsters necks (and got a bunch of them).

That is why I resigned from the Republican party. These idiots are NOT Conservatives, have run up a HUGE deficit, and keep expanding government.
