Everyone has achance, but Mr. Giuliani has a problem with getting the nomination fo the Republican Party due to the fact that the people who are Republicans and who vote in the primaries ( the elections in the states that decides who the party candidate will be) are generally run by those considered to the right of the Ameircan public. The same holds true for the Democrats. The people who rule the primaries for Democrats tend to be far left of the American public. There in lies the problem then - both parties need to pander to their 'base' to get the nomination, then you hear them all change their stories and tunes once they are the candidate in order to win the vote of the masses.
Rudy Giuliani has my vote as a New Yorker and I like him personally, but to be the Republican nominee he has to fight Pro-Life candidates and the Republican party, just as one example is a pro-life party (anti-abortion). So he has an uphill battle, but nothing is impossible.

Not unless the population has shifted, with Gen-x'er's and lower in control.

The Boomers and older will consider him too liberal. And I do not think the South will come on board.

He might get some swing-voters because he will be seen as a moderate, but not enough swing-voters. And remember, the primary is registered Republicans only, in many states. I don't see a lot of registered Democrats voting for Giuliani in the primaries.

I think that Giuliani will need to do a much better job of differentiating himself from Hillary if he wants to stand a chance.

Considering the way libs have been talking lately, and considering the fact that the liberals have tried to make this a Hilary or obama campaign, unless the republicans step it up and publicize a little more, his chances aren't looking too good.

Rudy's chance comes from "brand recognition" alone. If he makes the ticket, Republicans will vote for him simply because he is Republican and, of course, to vote against a Democrat.

Yes I do and I think its kind of scary, what do we really know about the man other than he has skills in a time of crisis (9/11)? and that he cleaned the streets of NY up. Those are great attributes but what more do we know? I want to know more and we have a short time to get educated...

He is the leading Republican right now, but if Thompson enters the race, it may hurt him, as it will draw some votes away, as he is too liberal for a lot of Republicans.

Strange as it may seem he has a difficult task getting the nomination but would beat Hillary or Obama easily.
