I think we have to look around the world, and see countries with populations much larger then us have had female leaders such as India. Why are we still applying a sexist viewpoint that gender is a deciding factor. Unfortunately as a population and a country we are 40 years behind the world and not ready...

The people of the United States are ready for a good president - male or female will not matter. Quality will.

We are ready for anyone that has some brains in their freakin' head!!! Someone here mentioned Rice, what a joke she is!! Anybody who would want any member of this present administration to be president or even garbage collector needs some serious head examinations. Face it folks, Rice is as big a liar as Bush and Cheney. Would I vote for Hillary ? Probably. Would I vote for Obama? Probably. Would I vote for Hagel? Probably. There's a long ways until the primaries and alot could happen between now and then.

Most of America is ready for a female president, but maybe 5% are not. And as we experienced in the 2000 elections, less than 5% can make or break a candidate.
I don't like Hillary either, but am thrilled that the focus is on her politics & hardly any on her gender.

for your second question, sure...it's called a premonition. As far as the first question, it will probably happen someday, but I doubt very seriously this election, unless they get some new candidates. Of course the people from NY will vote for her, not so that she wins, but to get her out of their state.
I think of this one issue as a problem. recently, you may have seen reporters from the US visiting Islamic countries to interview their presidents/dictators/etc. Each American woman wore some sort of headgear, covering her head for most or at least some part, as is the law or custom in those countries. Now, if we had a female president, would she follow those women? If so, wouldn't that belittle the position of President of the US, the most powerful nation on earth? if she didn't wouldn't that upset the leaders of the other countries and show a sign of disrespect? And in either case wouldn't that lessen the ability of "our" president from carrying on the diplomatic policies of our county?

Gender refers to grammar. Sex generally means male or female. Please! What difference if one candidate has a penis, and the other, a vagina? The primary requisite and qualification for the office of the president should be his/her accomplishments, at least 10 years experience with proven positive results in the Congress of the U.S. or a major office such as governor of a large state. Most importantly, the candidate should be thoroughly investigated and subjected to a complete backgroud investigation. We need to look at the candidate's education, scholastic grades earned or "given" such as affirmative action recipients, who get bonus points on exams, and are automatically passed from one level to another. Hillary is the only female candidate, and the question ; is the U.S.A. ready for Hillary? If I were a legal voter, I would vote for the most qualified and one with complete honesty, which is John Edwards!

We're ready for a good leader, female or not. I just hope if Hillary looses the battle she can accept the fact that she lost because the people didn't agree with her ideas and not try to whine about how sexist America is.

I agree, we are ready for a female president.
But the only female running is a socialist who is willing to violate the bill of rights. (see HER OWN question on yahoo answers)

Not at this time, a vice-president maybe. With us as a world leader, and the Middle East not taking women seriously it might be better for the USA to first prove herself through a vice presidency.
