Last night my "neighbor" stopped me by the mailboxes and started in how a BLACK family is moving in across the way. She said "Well I guess we can kiss goodbye to our neighborhood" !!!!!!!!!! I said "Excuse me?" and she was going on about how trashy they were (THEY JUST MOVED IN! They seemed pefectly nice to me!) and how the mother was single and I guess that was the end of the world. (I was a single mom too!) I said "I don't agree. I have nothing against people because of colour" and she yelled something about watching out for my daughter or some bullcrap.
WHY ARE PEOPLE SO RACIST??
And why the hell do racist people always assume you are with them?

Racist and biased viewpoints go back for centuries, and have been enforced for a long time, so it will be just about impossible to abolish racism totally. Also, you need to factor in the simple ignorance of people, and the total disregard to become more tolerable and wordly persons to anything that is slightly different from what they are used to. All the commercials and the rallies in the world couldn't sway the most adamant racist. That would have to come from within themselves, either by some type of personal revelation or some type of extreme incident to change their views.

Yup, I hate that, too. When I was moving from a small town to the Detroit suburbs *everyone* was warning me about all the minorities and how I was going to be robbed and so forth. I lived there for 13 years and nothing bad ever happened. I did make a lot of interesting friends from different cultures, though. Now I am back in my hometown and guess what? Nothing's changed! Everyone here is still racist. Very, very sad.

At least you have a conscience.... some people forget that black people are also human beings... it is just a skin colour it does not make them less human.... ignorance, and a lack of understanding is your neighbours problem..... and like i said those neighbors are the ones who people should run a mile from because they poison minds and hearts that makes this world a cold place for black people who are trying to live like anyone else in this world. Thank you for such a question...maybe others will take a leaf out of your book, and finally see the light.

Some people are brought up that way. Some people have one bad experience and think all people from a certain race are like that. Also the media really plays that kind of stuff up. Anytime anything bad occurs and the people involved are from different races, the media yells "racism". It will never stop until people stop listening to all of the crap out there and learn for themselves. Ignorance should not be contagious.

Racism is caused by fear and ignorance. Talking about someone else can make someone feel better about their own plight. This is ignorant because if the racist person would just go help that minority in some way...like saying hi to them or baking them some cookies...the benefits to the racists soul and outlook would be so much greater.
Never go along with someone when they say racist things.

That would piss me off too. Way to stand up for what you believe and know is right. Sounds like that person is judgemental all the way around---black, trashy, single mom. What a jerk.

And you are right, Racist people do assume people agree with them. I've never realized that before.

It is here on answers. I feel sorry for some of the people that get negative responses because of their skin color. I will admit that I have answered a few more cute women than men but this is understandable considering that I am a single white male without a bunch of baggage. I also understand that people are attracted to people of their own race, which isn't racism. In any case we all have to be careful when we address people that are different than us, it is our duty to make them feel as welcome as possible. It makes a difference.

Some people try to sound cool and look it, but we all know people like that are all jerks! People shouldnt be jujed by the coulor of their skin or the language they speak but the person underneath! Just ignore her and she will probably stop, dont make a big thing or she will start on you! Just act cool and say "Well I think they look friendly!" and walk away!

Because they have a small mind. They have not taken the time to get to know people for who they are and not what they look like. Racist people are stupid and have tons of hate in their heart.
