i think it`s ok!!! wouldn`t u rather she do something like that, with your permission, than to have her do it without your permission, maybe doing it herself or having an unqualified friend do it & risking problems such as infection, etc.??? i think it`s fine, i`d much rather let my child get a piercing or tattoo than get involved in some other things that are out there, like alcohol, drugs, or unsafe sex!!!

I would definitely let her. She needs to explore herself & getting a belly button piercing is not a big deal [especially these days].

I would probably make it known to her though that she has to pay for it--some boundaries would be nice, & it'd show her that you do have control over the situation.

Do you consider her responsible? Because taking care of a piercing is a big responsibility. If you believe she can handle cleaning the piercing every week and making sure it doesn't get infected then I believe its alright to let her get it.

I have 3 teens (daughter 18 and twins 14) and they know that piercings (besides normal ear piercing for girls) and tattoos are an adult priveledge. When they can provide their own legal adult ID then they can chose.

It's really up to you but keep in mind your child's frame of mind and ask why they want it so bad.

When I was 16 I wanted my lip pierced, but my mom wouldn't let me. I ended up sticking a sewing needle through it. It's a good idea to let her do it so she doesn't harm herself by doing it herself. Also, cleaning it and such will help her learn responsibility.

Well, if you want your 17-year-old having the reputation of a skank, go ahead. I personally think it's very tacky and says the wrong thing about people, just like a tongue ring. It's not a very Christian way to look either. That's my opinion.

no. wait till she is 18. then she is an adult. it's only a year, time goes a fast. if she still wants to get it then, well....it's her choice i guess.
