I usually only mention one instance negatively concerning her and that's because it's true and I'm still suffering from it. Any hurt that I feel at times I keep to myself because it is mine after all.

If I speak ill of my ex it's just because I'd like to cover the fact from myself and others that I felt for this "ill" person at the first place. It is so hard to admit our own mistakes (and blindness of love), it is much easier to find faults in the partner (or ex). How often instead of appreciation for the good times we've spent together we leave just with anger and lies about each other. And I think that first of all we are angry with ourselves.

When we first split up I would say it's because i'm hurt and angry. As time goes on if I say anything negative it's probably true. When you get over your feelings you wouldn't have a need to even be speaking of them, so bashing them would be pointless unless it was something that really was a bad trait. When you first break up you have pride to defend so you need them to look like the bad guy.

I think that even if it's true, most people speak ill of their ex because, they're hurt or angry.

I think if its a recent ex then its probably because you are hurt and angry, but if its an ex from a while ago its probably true!!

Because it's true and I'm angry at the fact that I had to pay the stupid b*tch £20,000 in settlement for a house that I had paid for in the first place. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

depends on the person.. if your hurt your doing it for that, if your angry your doing it for that and if its true your doing it for that! the question should be asked upon ones self...
I never spoke ill of my ex's even if it was true... I never spoke of them at all.. because better to forget!

A little of all three but for me it was more hurt than anything. The anger didn't come until the very end right before I became indifferent about him.

No, he is my best friend. My hubby and I seperated over 9 years ago, but have remained the best of friends. He took me to Maui last year. I iron his shirts for him when he has a date. Strange, I know, but it works for us. He is a gem of a man-I just can't live with him. He is a perfectionist and I am free spirited-not a good mix. I could never hate someone who gave me the gift of children

I do it because it is true. I am over being hurt and angry at my ex. Now I am apathetic.
