How is the American Dream represented in this book? I have done research in books, but I can't find any good sources online. Websites if able.

The victims lived in a quiet setting, totally peaceful surrounded by bountiful nature. When the killers broke into the house, the American Dream of tranquility was shattered.

The Clutter family was as close to a 50s sitcom as you could get to in real life. They actually lived the American Dream. Until they were murdered.

The murderers, Dick and Perry, had their own kind of dreams, but they were dreams that could never become real.

Christ, those two guys killed four nice people they hadn't even met. True, Perry saved Nancy (at 16) from being raped before she died. But he killed her, and with her all the dreams she might have had.
