I would use tree fertilizer spikes specially designed for trees. Typically you install these at the drip line of the tree around the tree. 2 or 3 should do, but consult the packaging specification.

you would be far better putting a mulch around the base of the tree rather than thinking about fertilisers

Fertilize with liquid fertilizer every 3-4 weeks, preferably an acidic type of fertilizer for the first year or two when small!

i have no clue but as it gets bigger it becomes one of the worst trees to have to mow under whip around and clean up after! right next to a weeping willow ! i have both in my yard and i dont give them anything
