I want to paint my exhaust in a flat or textured black color to match the bike's engine. People recommended ceramic coating but it is expencive and I will have to remove the pipes from the bike. Is there a paint that I could apply that would withstand the great heat of the pipes? The Harley-Havidson store told me that their paint that I used for the bike's engine would probably crack if I apply it to the exhaust...

Any auto parts store sells high temperature paint. It's made for your application.

Ok here is a trick used by people who build choppers on a shoestring budget. You can paint your exhaust using paint intended for wood stoves or barbecues. This paint will work fine and look pretty good for the price. The downside is that it can scrape off at times, but who cares when you can respray it for pennies at any time, right?

You could also find someone locally who has a powder coat gun and apply high heat powder coat, which would be stronger than the paint, but not as pricey as the ceramic.

If you want flat black, that's the only easy one.
High temp stove paint, it's supposed to go to 1600 deg.F.
If you've got a shiny surface, scuff it up, or the paint won't stick well. It may tend to rub off a bit, but hey, at a couple bucks a can, you can touch up weekly if you want.
