I think it's how you phrase it. If people cant see the humor of it on the main page, they wont answer. I think the added details bit is a killer to silliness.

yes. i think its because the person answering the question can be more creative than with other questions and in return they don't have to have a serious response.

it`s really true, when i ask a totally random question with absolutely no significance whatsoever, i get tons of responses...but when i have a question of importance, even if i post it in several different categories, i hardly get any answers!!!
