What animal is said to not exist in all Ireland? Do to St Patrick banishing them from the country?

The serpent, but it wasnt St Patrick that drove them out. And Ireland is not the modern site of the Garden of Eden

The legend says Father Patricius drove the snakes from Ireland.
Now, here's what it means:
The snake/serpent is really just a symbol for paganism. Patrick was a Bishop sent by the Church to bring Christianity to Ireland. They who took pride in rousting the pagans and killing those who would not willingly convert. Think the witch trials of Salem but more barbaric. Basically, he destroyed the pagan religion in Ireland and installed Christianity in it's place.
But, there are still "snakes/pagans" in Ireland and always have been.. they just hid for a while...
