I used to get caught-up in the bickering, but never really intended to . It happens I guess . But after awhile, I thought about the really important things in life and decided to take a different approach in the interest of harmony and 'good' communications . And this is how I did it .

I'm sail-ing a-way. . .set an open course. . for the virgin sea
I've got to be freeeee. . . free to face the life. . that's ahead of me
On board I'm the captain. . . . . so climb aboard
We'll search for to-morrow. . . . on every shore
And I'll tryyyyy. . oh Lord , I'll tryyyy
To car-ry on
I. . . .. Look to the sea. . . reflections in the waves. . spark my mem-ories
Some hap-py. .some sad . . . . . I think of childhood friends. . .and the dreams we had
We live happily for-ever. . .so the story goes
But somehow we missed - out. .. on the pot of gold
But we'll try. .. best as we can. . . . .. . .. to Car-ry On

Can you distance yourself enough from the hatred and be a good person on your own ?

Amen, brother. I still get caught up in it from time to time, but would love nothing more than an extended, meaningful debate. Few seem to be up to the challenge, though, as it is easier to through in a few insults and move on to the next meaningless question.

I think its very much dependent upon the day you're having...most days, though, I try to avoid the ridiculous mudslinging questions. There are some that hold merit amid their tirade, but mostly, its just a soapbox for someone's sarcastic view of humor and the opportunity to take a shot at others. But hey, its just another day in YA!

When I was just a little girl, I asked my mother, what would I be?
Will I be pretty, will I be rich? Here's what she said to me...

Que sera sera...what ever will be will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera sera.

It's all about respect....respect yourself AND others...even if you don't agree with them.

Oh...and as for sailing....keep this in mind....

"If you're driftin' on an empty ocean
with no wind to fill your sail,
the future, your horizon,
it's like searchin' for the Holy Grail.
You feel there's no tomorrow
as you look into the water below.
It's only your reflection
and you still ain't got no place to go."

EDIT - STYX is still making music for all those who love them!

When you see hate posts, insults, or rants (or other non-questions), you should report them for abuse.

That way, Yahoo can remove them and ban repeat abusers.

Then this site will have more interesting questions and less sludge.

Adding to the non-questions by posting songs hurts the site; it doesn't help it.

I agree that there is far too much emotional response (hatred) expressed on here.

However, there ARE underlying issues. My hope is to stay as respectful as possible and address the underlying issues where possible...which I think is important.

There are plenty of people wanting to come across as "bad" here. I generally ignore them until they refuse to ignore me. Like I've said before, it's not who starts a fight that matters.

It's who ends it.
