I would make it last for the rest of my life. You could easily live off the interest. I would take only a $50,000-100,000 (depending on the mutual fund market that year) paycheck from the money each year after paying of debt. I would live comfortably for the rest of my life. yeah, I wouldn't have a million dollar home but I could also do as I please with working or volunteering.

The other posters are right, you could spend it in less than a day if you really, really wanted to (give to charities, rent something extravagant, send a small town to disney world, etc).

a million can be spent in five minutes
some of the houses here on the gulf of mexico cost a million or more a friggin condo is 250,000
a mill will buy a lot of beer though LOL!

1 week. Rent a megayacht for a week. Buy nothing.

Brewster never thought about that one, but the movie would only have been about 20 minutes long.
