OK, I found the bill the Democrats are trying to push through Congress for the funding for the Iraq war:
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c110:2:./temp/~c110kL3PCu::
Look at the stuff they threw in there!!
The minimum wage increase
The minimum wage increase in AMERICAN SAMOA!
$50 million for the "Capital power plant"
Increasing the capital gains rate for certain people
A payment to the widow of a congressman
$25 million to SPINACH GROWERS!
$80 million for public rental assistance
And the list goes on. I am not even mentioning the withdrawal date (because I can't find it!!!) But yet, when Bush vetoes all this garbage, what are we going to hear?
LOOK! BUSH DOESN'T WANT FUNDING FOR THE TROOPS!!!
But, the American people are sheep, and since the Liberal media says "Bush is bad", it must be so.

Wow, that's scary. Thankfully our President is smart enough not to pass that bill.

You want to talk about stupid. You veto a bill that will give funding to the troops because you do not like the timeline in it, and then you say the American people will blame Congress for the troops not being funded, even though 59% of Americans want a timeline and only 33% do not. Bush will be repsonsible if the troops are not funded, not Congress. The presidency is not a monarchy. Bush can either choose to accept a timeline, or he will be the one cutting off funding.

That's not what I'm saying about Bush at all. But I will say that when he vetoes this bill, he is doing so at the risk of delaying the funding that the troops need.
He isn't going to veto it because of the pork. He has already said that his veto is because of the deadline. The rest of the stuff could completely go away and he'd STILL veto the bill, so let's not make the issue something it isn't.
Besides... please find me ONE bill that didn't contain any other issues than the main issue involved.
ALL Congresses have done this. You're only reacting this way because of the main issue in this bill.

Thank you, someone else that sees that the Democrats are only showing the American people half of the story. Bush really isn't a bad president, he is just trying to make sure that the bills that are not good for this country don't get pushed through. It is not his fault that on that same bill is the stuff about funding for the troops!!!

McCain supporters get called racist for all time for no longer balloting for Obama yet all and sundry is so scared to state the real actuality: the first public of Obama supporters are purely balloting for him because of the fact he's black. I firmly have faith people ought to ought to take an IQ attempt earlier being allowed to vote. There might in no way be yet another Democrat in workplace. that is totally troublesome that those mindless Kool help drinkers are even allowed to vote. I undergo in ideas being youthful whilst Clinton have been given elected and a great style of ladies people got here out and mentioned the only reason they voted for him is by using the fact he became "stable finding". Do you realize agricultural earmarks like "25 million to spinache growers!" are what keep our nation the wealthiest on earth? Subsidizing our agricultural sector improves the abundance of crops, and greatly INCREASES our GNP.
80 million for public rental assistance keeps families off the streets.
Raising the minimum wage raises the standard of living for those on the bottom.

Since this was apparently your first visit to senate.gov, I'd suggest you read some previous appropriations bills. These add-ons are standard practice for bills that are guaranteed to pass. The term "pork-barreling" has been around since the 1800s. And neither party has done anything substantive to end the practice.

Adding pork to spending bills is nothing new, and it happens on both sides of the aisle.
We really are this stupid for allowing this practice in Congress to continue.

The Democrats' flaws are many, but that doesn't make Bush less of a genocidal idiot and a criminal.
