rogers park has apartment buildings packed closely together. also there's alot of alleys with rats. if you want far vision, fresh air, and a nice landscape, pick areas along lake shore dr. there's alot of parks and entertainment, like Navy Pier (www.navypier.com). you can also go swimming. there some real nice restaurants in the area. lake shore dr. could take you right soldier field, the field museum (where the dino sue is), the shedd aquarium, or the museum of science and industry.

Well, If you are looking for a house, it is hard to say w/o knowing what your price range is. There is a big difference between the northside of the city vs. the southside. Price range is going to play a big part in what part of the city you are moving. Most people that want to be closer to the lake end up in a condo because of the lower prices, better views, and other amenities.
I think the newest area to move in is the near southside. Many new building, row houses to look at. My opinion only.

Wrigleyville comes to mind. Close to the Cubbies and a lot of great eateries and hot spots.

Not far from the lake or the expressways either. Public transportation is great. Parking not so great during baseball season.

More expensive to live down that way, but your annual should cover it, no problem.
