I'm not looking for narrow-minded people to call republicans OR democrats names - it just shows how shallow and uneducated you are.
I DO have a question - and I'd really like to understand why things are the way they are.
Does anyone else wonder why Republicans don't stand up to the Democrats - or why they don't stand up for themselves in general? They continue to allow democrats to go on baseless, meaningless witch hunts - but when a democrat does something warranting an investigation, republicans seem all too happy to allow the press to sweep it under the rug & nothing is ever done about it. Why don't we ever prosecute democrats?
I'd NEVER consider voting democrat, but I'm slightly ashamed to call myself a republican because we seem to let people walk all over us and I don't agree with that. Why is it SO difficult to grow a spine?

This is the year before an election - I know nobody in DC has any plans of doing anything but trying to get re-elected. I just don't understant how reublicans don't see how this negative PR - although baseless - is having an impact. People these days are dumb enough to believe everything they hear on the news - and of course the liberal media never says anything bad about their own party.
Republicans also don't do enough to encourage people to vote - it's unfortunate

We as decent people have a hard time reacting to baseless charges. We find it unbelievable that people would be so vested in their own power as to use lies and half truths to advance their own agenda's over the good of the people. Take heart. The times are changing. Now because of FOX and talk radio a forum has been created to fight back against the propaganda and lies of the elites. Some of us have figures out how to deal with the liberal group think that passes for intelligent debate, most prominent among the new culture warriors is Ann Coulter, who has figured out that to back down from liberal hate and apologize for offenses of perception is a losing strategy. No matter what a Conservative does liberals will always hate them, so backing down gets you nowhere, doesn't make them like you and won't get them off your back. Give as good as you get. Always us truth, it is something liberals fear and cannot abide. Turn your shame into confidence, from confidence comes strength, from strength comes victory.

Wow. You must have been born only a couple of years ago. All politicans, regardless if they are republican or democrat as well as the other such as independent/green/constitutional, etc, all want to take aim at the other party to make themselves look good in the eyes of the voters. You seem to be suggesting at what is currently going on with Bush and the democrats. It wasn't too long ago that the Republicans were doing exactly the same thing to that democratic president...Clinton. They kept going on and on about how they didn't care that he got a BJ in office, they were only concerned that he "lied" under oath. They did the impeachment thing, the whole nine yards. Why? To get him out of office because he was such a terrible person? No, just to make the voters "see" how wrong the democrats were and how "right" the republicans were. Then there was all of the flap about how the republicans were taking lavish trips, spending money that wasn't theres to take, and so on. The democrats hung them out to dry, and now the republicans are at it again, saying that the only reason that the current bill was passed was because of all the "pork" that was put in the bill. It has nothing to do with who's right and who's wrong. Their both the same with different names. Just trying to make the other side look bad so they look good.

Bush IS standing up to the Democrats by saying that he will Veto any legislation that passes his desk that has a timeline for withdrawal from Iraq on it. He has also said that, while the Democrats know this, that they are hurting our chances in Iraq by wasting time allowing this bill to pass through Congress, KNOWING that he will veto it, instead of drawing up a new bill, without a deadline and all the extra pork, to help fund the war in Iraq. The quicker the Democrats realize that THEY are the ones who are wasting time in getting this bill passed without a deadline, the quicker we can get a REAL bill in place to help fund the war.

If I do have one complaint about the Bush administration, it is that they are terrible at public relations. Too many times I feel like they haven't stood up to their liberal detractors and as a result all they have done is give creedence to the upsurd accusations that come their way.

Good question. I'm not sure I know the answer. I agree with you and would like to know why. They want our votes, but aren't acting very deserving of them, if you ask me. This will be interesting to watch the answers to this question.

Being Libertarian and watching the two bash the crap out of each other, I don't think the republicans are backing down. They are actually bashing the Democrats more for what I've seen. So I really can't say they arn't standing up against them.

republicans would rather work with policy than witch hunt...unfortunately, for democrats, witch hunting has become their policy...it will catch up...democrats are like your little brother constantly screaming at your parents that you are stealing his toys, even when its not true...finally, people say to the republicans to stop stealing their toys.....democrats like to work under the idea that if they say and cry something long and loud enough it will eventually become imbedded as true..wether it is or isnt...

no matter what happens, Americans are starting to open their eyes to what the democrats are all about and no one wants to be told how to live their personal lives by big government.

You are very mistaken. During this past administration, there have been more democrats investigated than in any other time. Interestingly enough, they're not finding very many prosecutable crimes. Although more dems are being investigated, there seem to be more republicans getting busted for things.
