If they fight back these days, there will be a Congressional hearing and the soldiers might face Court Martial and prison.
It would be ruled that the Iranians have the right. It's in the Koran.
Hell, a US judge recently ruled in favor of a Muslim to abuse his wife. It's in the Koran. Not much news on that.

If the iranian or any other tosspot naval force tried to ambush a yankee sailor on the high seas, I would expect that the response from the American military would be instant and very very savage, given the hassle they have with the middle east terrorist/cowards, those who hide behind women and kill children and are afraid to wear a military uniform. I think they would dish out a little lesson on respect to those who carried out the incursion. A case of 'waking the sleeping tiger' as a Japanese commander said after Pearl harbour and look what happened to them.

Wow that's a tough question, you'd like to think they would fight back and not just surrender but if your outnumbered your just throwing your life away and putting the the ships crew in danger, not to mention possibly starting another war.

The top American commander in the area has already gone on record as saying he would have expected his troops to fight.
The British didn't as they didn't want to put the lives of the Indian sailors on the boat they were searching at risk.

The Americans would have engaged the Iranians. Iranian boats would have been told to turn back of face being fired upon.

We would've let them come on-board, then taken their boats, sold them back to them at a hefty profit, of course minus any oil they might've been harboring AND THEN smoked the poor SOB's.

Do you call in a strike ( they did).
Do you jump in the water ?.....
