On purpose? Why do some people do this? I don't understand the rationality of it! Help me understand it people..Please! Thanks...! :)

The short answer is: People do this because they fear becoming vulnerable. It's actually a very rational thing to do, although it is possibly quite unhealthy.

lets just say our emotional and intellectual
centers interfere with each others processes,
as long as one carries negative emotions there
will always be this battle for control, emotions
define, not compare or reason, emotions run
free, so if one has negative feeling about being
hurt the sense of needing to hurt with the first
blow is from having no control with your emotions,
the negative sense of emotion needs to explode
and with such vehemence that in some strange
way brings vitality to the negative side of the self's
need to sabotage a good thing, it seems to be a process
of emotional anarchy,
its called,
human behavior,
without control there is no understanding
in identifying or conquering negative emotions
that invariably destroy a good thing just from the
momentum of expressing and releasing unpleasant
feelings out toward any and everyone ~

Fear of being hurt. If you have been before or know of friends and/or relatives who have been, you tend to run the other way.

Frankly, it is a little stupid, because as you said, it's a "good thing", nevertheless, it is somewhat of a natural reaction.
