I hope you're wrong. I started as a fan in 65, when I was 5. Childress baffles me. I know he was brought in because he was the anti-Tice, but it seems he has no eye for talent. Do you really believe T. Jackson and Chester Taylor are taking that team to the Promised Land?
Even if they pick up Quinn or Adrian Peterson, I'm not sure there will be much of an impact - the play calling last year sucked. Two runs, a short pass and a punt.
Let's kidnap Belicheck and whisk him off to Winter park.

As a long-time fan, I'd have to say, they certainly have me confused at this point. But, I also know this - how many times in the off-season were we convinced that the Vikings would have a very good team in the upcoming season, only to be let down by a group of chokers, over-hyped so-called superstars, or criminals? Quite often huh? At least we know that this will not the case this year. Our expectations are low.
So, they might surprise you. They have one of the best offensive lines in all of football, which means two things, (1) they'll be able to run the ball, and (2) their QB will have time. It doesn't mean their QB will do good things, it only means he'll have time. Also, they were the best in the league last year at stopping the run, which means teams are forced into a one-dimensional offensive game plan against them. I'm not saying they're going to be awesome on defense; I'm only saying that opponents' options against them are limited.
The Vikings have some good things going on; they just don't have many big names doing them. Remember, football is a team sport. Maybe team concept is what Childress is trying to build there. How many super bowl champions were "teams", not collections of all-pros?
Don't disparage yet Vikes' fans. Our team has let us down so many times after raising our hopes. This is going to be a bit different simply because our hopes aren't very high right now. Vikings teams of the past were built around all-star names like Culpepper and Moss. Those teams didn't accomplish much. This team has no names. Maybe that's better? We'll see I guess. I'm not counting them out yet.

Childress has only been coach 1 season. If he continues to blow into the 07/08 season, then yes he sucks.
The Vikings are not the worst team...but they do need major help. We have a ton of cap space and we're not even spending it on key players. Granted the free agent pool is lacking this year, but we've let some fairly good players sign with other teams already.
If they can sign a decent QB (Carr is my pick), and have a decent draft, and see who's available in the 2nd half of free agency in June, I think we should be ok. If not, can Childress.

no longer the worst crew interior the nfl, besides the indisputable fact that the worst crew interior the dep.. chicago and detroit will conflict for 2/third position interior the dep.. packers will win the dep.. vikings will take very last. they'll make a run for being the worst crew, yet wont be. atlanta is definitely easily one of the worst at present, talked about by technique of buffalo.

No that honor still belongs to the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, or even the Oakland Raiders. Take your pick.

I've been a Fan since September of `68. Joe Kapp threw 7 Touchdowns that day? And I was hooked. Been loyal ever since? And I'm sticking with `em. There must be a rhyme and reason to what he's doing. But I'm as confused as you are.

Dude, you are not even the worst team in the division. Although trading away Culpeper for such a low draft choice was a dumb move. Just be happy you are not a Lions fan like me! Stop complaining!!!

There are only two states of existence for the Vikings: Either be completely awful, or good enough to make people hope and then crush them later.
