Active, radical sectarism is terrorism.
Inactive, conservative sectarism is just another belief.

Sometimes it can lead to that, but it doesn't mean, by definition, that it has to happen. Two good examples of where it has happened is Ireland and Northern Ireland, Protestant vs. Catholic, and in Lebanon, Catholic vs. Orthodox, Christian vs. Muslim. These definitely led to terrorism. Northern Ireland had bombings of civilians, of innocents, of children, on both sides, and it was just horrible. Lebanon had much of the same, but being in the midst of a part of the world prone to violence, it just made matters worse.
