I am going to be opening a tea lounge, i have a business plan, my licsenseing infos, a lease, and everything else in the world almost all ready, however, i do not have a name!
I wanted to call it pumpkin, just because i read somewhere the most successful businesses have names that are one word, english lang, and nothing to do with the actual product.
so that fits. But who knows?
you guys do.
what do you think?
the business itself is a lounge, with wireless internet, couches, lots of local and community involvement, artists and musicians coming in once in a while to play and do lessons for people.
i serve mostly all kinds of loose leaf teas and then some coffee drinks as well and some little pastries.
any help will rule. thanks.

Since any names that are suggested here may already be owned by another party, I wanted to go a different route...

I suggest either hiring a name creation firm or get together with your friends and/or family and throw a "name party" & have everyone bounce some ideas around. Compile a listing of names that you like the best. Once you have that list, do as much free research as you can before you delve into comprehensive research.

I listed some links where you can do some preliminary name checking. However, please be aware that this is merely scratching the surface of what's out there.

Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name is truly available. But, these links are free & a great place to start, so I'd try them out first.

Comprehensive research consists of looking at marks that are similar in Sound, Appearance or Meaning in the pending & registered Federal AND State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files.

There are other sites that offer free searching capabilities in conjunction with their commercial services, so I'm not able to post those links due to the Yahoo! TOS. You'll also want to check domain names & yellow pages, so simply do a search for "free domain name search" and "national yellowpages" and the appropriate links will pop up.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Hi there,
Pumpkin sounds like an interesting name to have for your tea lounge. You can use that as a theme and people will remember it. So for instance, you could have some lounge chairs in the shape and colour of a carved out half pumpkin. I think it's a good name and memorable if you somehow associate pumpkin with your products and services.

I like your name. Location is more important than a name though as long as a comfortable environment. I have long frequented coffee shops and I like the places where I can relax and do my work, along with enjoying a good product.

I think Pumpkin is a horrible idea. I don't think that you would get many customers with that name. It's got to be something catchy like Earlgrey or something. Name it after your favorite tea! Pumpkin is not the best choice.
