First of all is you have concerns CALL YOUR DR AND MAKE AN APT. Better to be safe than sorry. You most likly are having what is know as the tightening of the uterus. (Braxton hick contractions) Yes these hurt but it is getting you ready to have your baby. I have had contractions since I was 4 months 13-16 weeks. Of course I've had two other babies and know what real labor is and braxton hicks. I want to stress to you though that if you don't feel good about these that your dr will be happy to see you and tell you what is happening. When this happens drink so much water your urine looks like water. It's a safe call to drink some water and put your feet up. I've found that if I'm having the B. contractions to simply cut a lemon or a lime up and put a slice into the water and relax for an hr or two. But again every woman is diffrent and what you might think of as your tolerence to pain might be diffrent. it wouldn't be cool to have your baby in weeks 21-36 weeks. So congrads on the bundle to come and make an apt. :)

Not at all. I had contractions early with my first pregnancy...actually I was only 4 months!!! Usually they are just Braxton-Hicks contractions which are normal and nothing to worry about. If the contractions hurt and come regularly tell your OB right away. I had to be put on Brethen pills to stop my contractions because they were so strong and hurt. The pills made my heart race terribly, but did stop the contractions. Also, lay down and put your feet up to help relax and rest.

What you are probably having is Braxton Hicks contractions. It's your body praticing for real labor.

While the contractions are annoying they are generally considered unproductive. False labor might be another term. Tell your doctor that you have them and start to pay attention to the times. Braxton Hicks contractions can also be caused from dehydration so make sure you are drinking plenty of water.

Good luck and a speedy labor & delivery!

The "contractions" you are more than likely feeling are called Braxton Hicks. These are pseudo contractions that help your uterus get prepared to help push your baby into the world. Real labour contractions are defined as regular (1-20mins) apart, increasingly more painful, and sometimes located in your lower back. Sometimes what helps with braxton hicks, is laying down and resting for a bit, if your able to. Braxton Hicks are also natures way of saying "SLOW IT DOWN!!"

I am in my 3rd trimester and i haven't felt any BH Contx. This is also my 3rd pregnancy too, but no its not to early to have contx. If in doubt i would call your ob and get checked out. Especially if the pain is 2-5 min apart and lasting about 30 sec to 60 sec's

I am also on babycenter and there have been 4 moms on the June 2007 message board that have already delivered their babies. 1 however passed away cause there was an infection in the amniotic fluid. So far the other 3 are doing great. So please go get checked out.

Nope, but what you're probably having are called Braxton Hicks contractions. These are like little "practice" contractions. Often, if you drink some water and lay down they will go away. These are perfectly normal but some people never have any. Just pay attention to them and if they keep getting stronger and don't go away, check with your doctor. After awhile you'll get used to them.

Best of luck.

No, its not, but they are proly braxtion Hicks. If the contractions you feel are regular, like they come every 5 minuets and are steady like that for a while then I'd call the doctor right away.
