there are several new vehicle warranties on your honda civic. the 'basic' warranty for manufacturing or material defects on the car is 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Then the Powertrain Warranty covers the items of the engine, transaxle and drive axles for 5 years/60,000 miles. The Emissions warranty covers most emission system controls and engine sensors for 3 years/50,000 with some other items such as the catalytic converter and control computer being covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles.

the mailers you are getting are offering a service contract to provide coverage on your vehicle once the original warranty expires. Honda Care is the factory extended service contract. The mailers you are receiving are probably from someone else. Most service contracts require that you purchase them within the first year of service and while the vehicle is still in warranty, that's why you're getting the mailers. They are probably coming from a company that contracts with your dealer to solicit service contract sales to customers who did not purchase the contracts initially.

there is value to the service contract and that's why there is a market for them. In most cases the amount you pay for them is greater than the amount you will pay 'out of pocket' for repairs once the warranty expires unless you have a catastrophic failure such as a transmission failure.

You can get more information on the warranties by looking in your owner's manual, going to the honda owner site "ownerlink" or by going to Honda.com

hope that answers your questions

Ignore the 'junk mail' you are receiving. Those are aftermarket warranties trying to sell you another warranty for your vehicle.
If you purchased your vehicle brand new you are under a factory warranty. Most manufactures have a 10 yr 100000 mile warranty. Any problems, take it to the dealership.
I am not completely sure of what all is covered through Honda. I would contact the dealership and ask them for a copy of the warranty. Look through the paperwork- front and back from when you purchased the vehicle... They might have a copy if not definately contact the salesman that took care of you when you bought the car.

Unless you purchased the extended warranty, you have the standard Honda 3 year or 36,000 mile warranty. What is happening is crook marketers have gotten ahold of the new car registration information and are soliciting those new owners. Ignore them, toss their snail mail in the trash and delete their e-mails.
