I was 5weeks with both my sons. My oldest son, the sickness lasted till I was 5months pregnant and it was that bad I ended up weighing 5stone and gained 5stone after the sickness passed!! My second son, I was sick throughout the pregnancy, but I didn't gain or lose much weight as I could eat alot better this time. It's different with each baby, they say if you have bad heartburn during the last months the baby will be born with a big mop of hair, it was true in my case!!

With my first I didn't have any sickness at all - I felt GREAT all through my pregnancy - my little boy a was pleasure!

I'm 35 weeks with my second now (a little girl) - and the sickness started almost immediately, I was only about 2 weeks pregnant, and 2 days late for my period, and I knew I was pregnant. I couldn't stand certain smells, everything made me retch! I had trouble even going to the supermarket!

It did get a bit better at 12 weeks or so, but I have had nausea and occassional sickness all the way thorugh this time!

All worth it though!

Good luck! :-)

This is differant for everyone and some people manage never to suffer with it. It is thought you will suffer longer and worse if you are pregnant with a multiple birth. The general understanding is that sickness called morning sickness but it can come on at anytime of day can be suffered for the first 3 months of the pregnancy. Some unlucky people can suffer it throughout,

I remember when I was nursing there was one lady who had it really bad and she was quite far into the pregnancy and we where told not to let her have a sick bowl as it was self induced. I dont rememeber this working.

Its all worth itin the end ,good luck

I was about 5 weeks when My morning sickness hit.
It lasted till i was about 25 weeks with my one son, and about 16 with my other, (all the way through with my daughter)

I found, Peeling an apple and eating it slowly was the best thing.
I also had to get up a bit earlier than i was used to, If i got out of bed at my normal time and rushed to get ready, I was ill a lot more and longer.
In the afternoon when I was feeling it, I would have a glass of water with a little bit of lemon in it.
Hope this helps

I had to have hormone therapy for endometriosis.... The hormones I had to take tricked my body into thinking it was pregnant & as a result I had morning sickness for 5 months (which would last until late afternoon) without even being pregnant! Great! Can't wait to see what happens when eventually I get pregnant :o(

mine started at about 5 weeks, found some info on internet about moring sickness------Nausea, occasional vomiting, tiredness and lethargy are a normal but nasty part of the first few months of pregnancy. Although these symptoms are commonly known as ‘morning sickness’, it’s not an apt name since it doesn’t always happen in the morning and it isn’t really a sickness.

No one understands exactly what causes it, but there are many factors known to contribute to morning sickness, including low blood sugar, low blood pressure, hormonal changes, nutritional deficiencies (especially in vitamin B6 and iron), and even nutritional excess (especially of spicy, sugary and refined foods).

While nausea may feel like a pointless and punishing experience, a study earlier this year at Cornell University in New York suggested that morning sickness may have a helpful function. When researchers analysed different studies involving over 80,000 pregnancies they found that nausea and vomiting are most common just after your baby has gone through its most sensitive development period (also common at this time are aversions to certain foods – usually meat, fish, eggs, poultry and strong tasting vegetables).

Nausea and vomiting, said the researchers, may be your body’s way of getting rid of potentially harmful chemicals and bacteria and keeping the woman and her baby safe from food-borne and other types of illness. As if to underscore the point, the researchers also found that in cultures where the diet is mainly vegetarian, and where dairy foods are not staples, morning sickness is uncommon.

Many women worry that morning sickness is a sign of something wrong with their babies. This is not the case. [Quite the opposite, in fact]: a study, published this year in the Journal - Obstetrics and Gynaecology observed that morning sickness is associated with better pregnancy outcomes, decreased risk of miscarriage, pre-term birth, low birth weight and perinatal death. Researchers believe, though they don’t yet know how, morning sickness may support the healthy growth of the placenta – your baby’s lifeline while it is inside you
ope this helps.....
