I'm in the beginners class, but because my friend has lent me a dancing lessons video, and he himself has taught me some moves and also burnt a music compilation for me to practise with, plus there being no single males to partner up with me in the Latin dancing class, I'm getting really bored...

If I ask my friend who is a pro to come to be my partner, is that asking too much? He already teaches as an instructor for Bodyjam classes at gyms on most other nights.
Should I instead ask another friend who is single, even though I have a crush on my friend who is a pro in dancing?

Vernon D: I'm bored when there are no partners to dance with. If the class was challenging enough, even without a partner, I won't complain. But if he comes, he might actually like my company therefore that's one reason why he won't necessarily be bored.

Snowflake: Thanks for your professional opinion. The level of class would be too low for him. He has competed at professional level and I'm a beginner. I was just wondering whether it is asking too much to ask a pro to come to be my company (if he also enjoys my company), even though it is a beginners' class. But I feel that if he is my partner, I would be able to cope with a higher class.

You can ask, nothing wrong with asking. If you think the level of the difficulty of the class would be of any interest to him then why not. If he feels like he shouldn't accept it for professional reasons - then he might have to say no. Leave that part up to him, but asking part is up to you. Sounds like he's your first choise for a partner, why skip to the second choise right away. You could start from far away, like asking where do pro's take lessons to improve, does he think the class you are refering to might be of any use to him? Or maybe you can go with him to the class that he's taking?

Give it a shot with the pro. He will know how to lead. You can learn a lot from a good partner who knows how to lead, you'll pick up quicker rather than with another beginner who is trying to muddle through the steps, and he might even teach you a little.

If you invite him as your partner he might start giving pointers to others. Then again he might not have time. Doesn't hurt to ask him though, but keep in mind the crush might get in the way and lose a friendship in the process. If your other friend is as good of a dancer then check him out also.

Yes, it would be selfish to ask him. Why would you think he would be any less bored. Sounds like you just want to show him off, but then what do I know.

Sounds like a lot of fun to me. But maybe you should ask him out on a different date first. ;-)
