in india,pakistan and sri lanka cricket is like the most popular game and this in turn puts major pressure on these teams to perform..cos their home people follow the game much closely than a team like australia or south africa for eg...where the main sport is rugby,football etc and attention of the people is somewhat away from cricket. so they are under less pressure to perform and also are less criticized if they do something wrong.
this could be the reason why south africa and australia are the top 2 cricket teams in the world right now..cos their audience is limited than asian teams.
this i think is a huge disadvantage for asian teams.

Yes there is very much presure which is hidden though.
Cricket originated in England for white collar poeple.
But not Asians are playing cricket better than them in most matches.

i disagree the asian teams have been at the #2, #3 & #4 spots 4 years only 4 da last couple of years they have gone down in da list coz they don't play as much cricket as they used 2 but i agree yeah they r under more pressure specially Pakistan and India where the fans go crazy when they lose not so much for Sri Lanka our fans are more respectable and much more quiet although we criticisms are always there when they lose

There are two main reason the asian teams are under more pressure than other teams.
1) We are entirely playing the whole tournament in hard pitch, so its difficult to continue in whole cup.
2)Ofcourse we have lot of adyans , but its not a big factor, always they will support as well curse..
But the reason for ranking in AUS and SA is not tht one, SA team is not making cositency in the whole history, If you see over all rating Pakistan is strong team than SA, and more over Srilanka is Made as world champion druing Ranatunga period.. As well as India always making consitency and lot of Record breaking country too..

When you are playing in international level you should get adjusted to the situation and should be capable of sustaining the pressure. Blaming the pressure the reason for pathetic performance is a lame excuse.
