yesterday i bought one of thoes heartbeat monitors at 'BABYS R US' and i tried it out this morning...i heard some wierd sounds but definatley not the heartbeat cause ive heard it on my doctors machine... the lady told me there when i bought it that not everybody hears their babys heartbeat but some people do. Has anyone else bought one and not heard it? The instructions on it says that you might not be able to hear it but its still a little freaky for me. I have been feeling fine w/ the exception of the occasional streching feeling... should i call doc? or just wait till my next appt. Im pretty much just looking to see if any of you have had one of these monitors and it not worked. grrrrrr. its fustrating.

I bought one of those with my first pregnancy. I had twins in there and never heard a heartbeat! This time I rented a medical grade doppler and I can hear the baby loud and clear anytime I want. Don't stress, those things from babies r us aren't that great. Best of luck.

I have bought a baby heart beat monitor also from baby r us, I am 21 weeks pregnant and still i can`t here anything.
I not going to freak out about it because the monitor is not as sensitive as the monitors at your doctors office. So don`t worry about it , just counted as money wasted as i did. Your baby is fine.

I have never tried one but I know someone that did and could not hear the baby's heartbeat but she could hear when the baby moved. I think those things are a waste of money. Also, you have to remember that it is not as powerful as the one your doctor uses so you may not be able to hear it till the baby gets bigger.

It's probably just because your only 16 weeks. Sometimes doctors find it hard to find the babies heart as they're so small and move around so much. When you get further on then I'm sure it'll get easier!

I got one of those monitors, I am 32 weeks and have still heard nothing! It is kinda frustrating so I hardly ever try anymore.

the at home dopplers are better off being used past the 20 weeks mark. They are not as strong as the dopplers at the doctors

Don't worry. If you read the fine print on those you can get at home, most of them say you won't hear anything until the THIRD TRIMESTER. Shouldn't be a problem. =-) Good luck.
