Why are some nice women with lots of potential always attracted to violent or drug addicted cons, or guys in jail for really bad stuff, or repeat offenders. I see it all the time and I don't understand. I can understand being with someone who made a simple mistake one time, but these other guys who are career criminals or are in jail for like 20 years? Why would a woman waste the prime of her life on these guys?

A few of these criminals are ALPHA MALES i.e. the type of man who dominates. Women have an instinct that makes them want to breed with this kind of male. Most women have a sense of judgment that tells them to not get involved with a man who gets into fights and wins them, but cant stay out of jail, but not all women do.

They have a deep rooted need to be hurt.Maybe as a child growing they were the target of bullies, maybe their father was an abusive man and they grew up watching there mother being abused.It becomes normal behavior for them. Humans gravitate toward what is normal.Violence is normal in their subconscious. Some times it takes therapy to overcome this syndrome.They also may have been victimized sexually as a child and hard as it may sound to this woman it is deeply rooted that an adult man having sex with children is normal as well.

I think it's because they think love transends all, and because it makes them feel very special. "No one else ever gave him a chance", "no one else understands him like I do". They think they have a special bond with the guy that no one else can understand, and that thier guy would never, ever hurt them on purpose. And if he does hurt her, it's not really his fault, it was an accident, it was the drugs, it was his childhood, and he's really really sorry and it will never happen again. And she believes that she can't leave him, because she is the only thing in his life that is good and all that is keeping him from complete ruin (even death, sometimes). This is an awesome responsibility, and they hate it and love it at the same time.

They feel the need to take care of someone by being a mother. I used to work with a woman that married an inmate that was serving a long sentence for rape and murder. She believed he was innocent and spent a lot of money on attorneys. He is still in prison.

Non-commital issues, usually. I tried not to answer this one, but my psych degree got the best of me! If the guys are in jail, the woman wants to feel loved, but wants to go on with her life as usual, not answering to anyone and doing what she wants when she wants. If he's out, she thinks she can change him. And then there's that whole bad-boy thing going on, wild men are attractive.

Bad is a challenge. Good is boring.
Men are the same. we like bad girls too because we think we could change her and that make us feel powerfull.
Sad because that is why we have so much crime & broken society, single mothers, run away kids, pregnant teens,..etc

Because they like the dark side...the drama...and think they can change them..but of course they cant.
