I would grab a gun, and just fire off a few rounds into the trunk until the thumping stops.

Why not look? What are you afraid of? Maybe something is desperately trapped inside and needs your help (a cat that had kittens or a trapped squirrel) or maybe there is potentially a serious problem with the vehicle and it only seems like the sound is originating in the trunk. It would be a lot easier and safer, less expensive or gross to investigate it now rather than later. Unlike many of the silly answers thus far, ignorance is NOT bliss.

Ignore it. Whatever it is when run out of air at sometime in the near future, but you may need to get the trunk detailed for the smell. Just a suggestion. Happened when my son's deadbeat dad "accidentally" fell into my trunk.

It could be that the trunk wasn't shut properly or u might be about to experience a scene from a slasher film,

u know ; the part when the girl sees the dead guy in the trunk, and when she comes back its gone, and then she turns around real slow and AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!

LOL: JUS KIDDING......maybe :)

Its probably a flat tire. That same thing happened to a friend of mine and he was dumb enough to drive around for a couple of days like that and it really messed up his wheel. If its not a flat tire you should open the trunk and let your ex-boyfriend go.

I told you to make sure they were unconscious before you closed the lid.

Now they will wake up the others and you will have a whole trunkfull of them that will jump out the minute you open it.

ignore it, it will go away...of course it might also be followed by a foul smell, but that too will go away...just be worried when the CSI guys come knocking.
