Use a small plastic container with holes in it large enough for the snails but too small for the fish. Toss in a small handfull of gravel so that it will sink and a luttce leaf to bait the trap. Leave this in the bottom of the tank over night and you will be surprized how many snails will find it. In the morning simply remove it and clean out the snails and lettuce. Repeat as needed and before you know it you'll have them under control. Once a week is usually more than enough to keep the population to a very low level.

Snails are beneficial when managed in a tank, but can quickly get out of control. He can live happily in the tank with your fish.

However if you want to get rid of him, simply weigh down a piece of lettuce in the tank. Let it stay over night. Simply remove the snail the next morning.

This works well when you have lots of unwanted snails.

The snails clean the tank - but they die very quickly as well when in the tank.

it entirely depends on the type of snail you had. i had one large red ramshorn, within 2 months, i had 200, 3 months, 500.

they will eat algae, but not all algaes, some may nibble plants. but if you do find yourself overrun, not only will they be a pain to get rid of, but all those snails will poop...and poop a lot! and lots of poop in a fish tank is bad news!

look at the site below and ID your snail

Snails are good for an aquarium but bad for a garden.

Snails are usually harmless(depending on species),some will breed rapidly, some eat plants, some are purely beneficial. You need to learn more about your particular type of snail.
