Stupid question. I'm majoring in CpE and I dreamt of working in a field of astronomy. Is NASA just like any other engineering firm or is it more like, top- secret- clearance type job?

It is essentially like working at any big engineering firm. The level of security clearance needed would depend upon what you do, and yes foreign nationals DO work at NASA.

It is hard however to get a job as an actual NASA employee. The government is not doing a lot of hiring. Most of the show is run by contractors though, so it is much easier to get a job with one of them.

It's no deifferent than anywhere else. If you're directly working on launches, you may work some strange hours. You'll need a security clearance which they'll get for you and for that, you cannot be a foreign national.

You have to have a clearence to work at NASA, like you do for practically all government jobs, even as a janitor.
