Yes they are. but it depends on where the come from and how damaged they are. The could contain microbial life or other stuff like that. You should probly take to a natural history museum.

Museums should buy them. There also appear to be websites for private collectors to buy & sell, just type in "buy sell meterorites" into Google:

ebay don't sell meteorites to the public but try to find it there

Take it to your local Science museum. They should be able to direct you.
