With the continuing success of Sanjaya on American Idol, it's time to acknowledge the fact that "that" (I don't want to publish the link) website is actually working to keep him on the show.

I say they need to change the voting and here is my suggestion for next year: The judges pick three contestants every week that they feel are the worst. The public votes one of those three people out. If a contestant is nominated for elimination by the judges two times and does not get voted out, then during the subsequent (third) week, they can unanimously decide to eliminate that contestant and there is no vote by the public.

What do you think?

That's a good idea, or limit the number of times we can vote like Dancing w/ the Stars.

I think to limit the number of votes is a good idea. They have to do something. The way this is going is not fair to the rest of the contestants. Sanjaya is consistently bad every week & stays while someone with real talant like Stephanie has an off night & goes home! I'm to the point to where I want to change the channel when he comes on! This is absolutly rediculous! I think everyone needs to vote for everyone but Sanjaya as many times as possible to try to get him to go home since they apparantly aren't going to do anything to fix this!

It defeats the democratic aspect of the show. It should always be the audience that votes whether a contestant stays or goes. In the latter stages, it should never be left up to the judges to decide. The way it stands right now the judges give their opinions and it's up to the audience whether to respect that opinion or not. In the long run, contestants like Sanjaya and bald-headed Phil will, the least talented finalists, will be eliminated before the final 6 remain. What makes the show highly successful is its democratic ideology. We as Americans like that.

I think your idea is good.

Something has to be done, because once again, a singer with way more talent than Sanjaya was booted, simply because a "choice" radio personality and a website are trying to make a mockery of the show and of how hard the contestants work.

I think limiting the number of times one person can vote is a good idea. But the show wants to make it sound like they have a huge fan base with the number of votes that came in. I guess I'll have to up my voting for this year.

I like the idea of the people voting off the worst singer. People call for the singer they do not like and want off the show. It would be a lot less biased.

I think the popularity of the show is letting the audience choose who they think is the best performer.

What I don't like is allowing automated telephone dialer's to dial-dial-dial and those votes are counted.

I would suggest that after dialing in for a contestant they require a confirmation that you want to vote for that person.

Like Thank you for choosing contestant number 1 to confirm your vote press the pound key now.... (Pound key must be pressed) Your vote has been confirmed.

Autodialer's can'tdo this only a person can.

That would be way better than they have it know. I am one of those people who cannot stand American Idol and I am thrilled to see people getting it back with the Indian kid. What you said sounds like a good plan and they should implement it next year. I mean who would be a better judge of a singer, a 13 year old from Wisconsin or 3 people who struggled and made it through the music biz.

well if you want to know what will sell, keep using the public voting. If you want to have the best performer and vocalist win, just let Simon and Randy pick them. Paula is too passive and nice to be honest. As long as the public votes this is what we can expect.Just listen to commercial radio. It is geared toward the mindless masses who are blinded by hype, good looks, and age

the whole thing is funny to me. but sanjaya isn't going anywhere because the producers know he's a viewer draw. If they cut him ratings would fall. so even if he is the bottom we will never know cause they'll cover it up till they want him to leave. trust, our votes don't matter

Yeah, but that still can be rigged if you think about it. I would prefer the judges to eliminate the contestants.
