My husband and I LOVE the name Sadie, but ironically enough my best friend said that she loves the name adn it would be their girl name. She is having a boy, but I feel like she kind of "called it". I had another baby name stolen by another "friend", so I wouldn't do that to her. I wouldn't want her to think we are copying her, so we need to come up with an alternative. I am looking for something that has a similar feel to Sadie, and it doesn't necessarily have to start with an S. Any ideas welcome.

Sinclair, Jocelyn (Josclyn, Joselin), Haylee (Haylie, Haley), Brooklyn (Brooke), Cayti (Katie, Caty) Lilly (Lily, Lillie), Adia (pronounced Aid-E), Addison (Addy).

I've also had an awesome name taken from me too. Why can't people be original and think for themselves? How hard is it to name your child without stealing someone else's name? Some people just have no class!

But, I've been thinking, why not just ask your friend if she minds you using it since she probably already knows you and hubby adore it, after all she is having a boy right now! You never know, she may change her mind altogether about having any more babies! If she is a good friend she may not mind, but be sure to give up any good names she loves too!

Why can you not still name your girl, SADIE? The children are still individuals? You might move one day, or vice versa! They won't be joined at the hip! I'd go ahead and keep your first chosen name! Alternatives I could suggest are: CADIE, or JAYDEE! Stick with SADIE! You're still separate households and I don't see that same names mean anything! No one can steal anything from you, unless you let them!!! Good luck!

I love Sadie why dont you talk to her first and tell her that your husband and you love it and maybe she wont mind "giving it up" if she is not having a girl I think names are fair game- First come first served

ur such a good friend!!

i always loved the name eleanor because you could call her ella or nora.

here are some other favorite names;
kylie
bailey
eliza
scarlet
tegan
maralen (pronounced; maw raw len)
kenley
charlotte
natalia
annalise

the name suri is beautiful if you arent worried about "copying" tom and katie cruise. i personally love that name and would use it either way.

another fun idea is to take the names of your grandmothers and put them together

example--

marilyn and emilie
(i switched up the spellings a little)
marlie
emmalyn

GOOD LUCK WITH THE NAME HUNT!

no way she can't call it!! Your not in the same fam and if you like it use it!!! You get dibs cuz your having a girl first and you like it!!! Totally use Sadie that is soooooo pretty and its hard to get the guys to agree! So if you both like it use it! Shouldn't need your friends permission, thats silliness! Best of luck!

What about Radha, like the Aussie Actress Radha Mitchell.

The meaning of Radha:
Name of one of Krishna's consorts. It evokes the image of a vivacious and spirited girl.

Or Cassandra and shorten to Cassie, or Caroline = Carly.

I also like Noemi or Niobe.

Heidi, Hedy --like Hedy LaMarr--- or Hattie (short for Harriet).

Lucky you! My mother-in-law's poodle is named Sadie. We didn't like it for the dog either. There are tons of very, very pretty suggestions from other responders, so it should be eas to choose. Good luck!
