Obviously not. One do not require passport to travel within India. However you need separate permit to enter some sensitive places like Arunachal Pradesh, Lakhshadwip etc.

But if you are going to drive, do not forget to take your valid driving licence alongwith.

Ofcourse if you are having a passport, it may help you whenever you need identification ( like at the banks etc).
