I work at a paper, and I know someone that is 60 something years old, and he doesn't like kids, and he show that towards new employees that are young. I'm 24, I've worked there since I was 19, and he's never shown anything like that towards me.

sometimes with age they just get grumpier cause they are not happy at home or with their work. Sometimes they also see young people showing no respect toward them and they then lump all young people into that category. At least he hasn't treated you that way so it is likely that you treat him with respect.

Some people, no matter the age, place the individual into a category. Youth have no respect for the previous generations, foul-mannered, no work ethic, and so on and so on.
They do not take the time to get to know you so they just place you into that category.
He may also just be an unhappy person that needs someone to take it out on, that may be you.
I wouldn't let it get to you, just enjoy the people that do like you.

Businesses are doing what they can to get rid of as many older workers as they can. That way they can hire younger people at lower salaries (and benefits).
Your co-worker is concerned about his job.
Oh - and I should mention that the "kids" being hired these days are more in it for money. They do not have the work ethic that someone older has.
