I can't remember, but I still watch it. So funny. I think the cartoon's over 50 years old.

I was probably around 3 or so when I first saw them.
Tom and Jerry were originally brought into being in the 1930's by Metro Goldwyn Meyer (MGM Studios) as an entre to theatrical releases.
Oddly enough, there was also a pair called Tom and Jerry that was animated by Van Beuren studios. They renamed their pair to Dick and Larry to avoid confusion.
hope that helps.

I believe I was about 4 years old and I also believe the cartoon has been out about the early 60's.

Wow..!
I'm 42, my earliest memories include Tom and Jerry.
Still enjoy them today, well... the Fred Quimby ones. Far better than the modern reproductions.
They do indeed go back to the '40's. But were only ever superb when Fred Quimby was involved as producer.

so young I am sure I was watching it without remembering....I believe tom and jerry came into existence during WW2, hence the names Tom (slang for English) Jerry (slang for german) the confusion starts because if thats the case....why is tom the cat in german colours whilst jerry the mouse is in Allied colours and the names are the wrong way round....typical yanks they got that one mixed up too!!!!
