I have 3 female platies and 2 males in a 20 gallon tank. Both males always chase this one female all the time! i don't want her to get stressed out, so do i need to buy more females? Why don't they chase the other two females, and why are both guys after one girl? Should i be concerned about this, or is it normal?

It's not unusual to see moch males chasing one female, nothing at all to be concerned about. Maybe your other two are a bit young? Adding a few more adult females would probably be a good idea.

This is normal live bearer behavior. Nothing to worry about, but you may want to provide her with plenty of hiding places so that she can get away from them once in a while. As soon as she is pregnant, they will go on to the others. I usually like to get 3 females for each male, this gives more of a chance for more females to be ready to breed at the same time. Make sure your tank is well planted if you want to keep the babies. They will need places to hide because the adult fish will eat them.

More than likely, the female they are chasing is matured enough to produce eggs where as the other two are not. This happens a lot with goldfish.

Nothing to be worried about unless they have her running into tank walls and decorations.

2-3 Females to every one male is always a good idea. Keeps them all busy.

They will be fine.

you could put more female platys in there or better yet put some more decor where they can hide..i used to have this problem before but when i added several things in my tank (eg. rock, driftwood..) to serve as hiding places, they're not that stressed out anymore..another reason for this is probably the male wants to breed with that certain female, i've had this happen in my tank before..

It is normal. Fish tend to sort of run in little packs and then do something else later on. I would just ignore it if I were you.

A couple more femmes and a lot of plants. The plants will provie hiding places and something for the fish to graze on,too.
