"Star Wars" of course.

I think Star Wars, The Godfathers, Back to the Futures, and Rocky (minus 5). What I loved about all of these minus Star Wars is that you could watch the movies independently of each other and out of order and they're still great. Unlike Lord of the Rings, where it could have been just one long 12 hour movie. I felt like Star Wars still had a conclusion to every movie even though you had to watch them all and it was still a continuing story. Lord of the Rings was like a tv show "see ya next week!"

Wow this is hard. I would have to go with Star Wars for the fact that it has lasted the test of time. But there is so many. I think this could be a multiple question broken into catorgoires.

"Chinese Ghost Story" 1,2 & 3 is best to me. In #1, Leslie Cheung (Cheung Kwok-Wing) is a travelling collector who is broke. Rain destroyed his records, so local businessmen refuse to pay anything. He asks about free lodging and is told to go to deserted LanRyo temple. There he encounters Wu Ma as a swordsman-wizard who is staying there to escape the world and meditate. Wu tells him to leave because the temple is haunted. Les only meets lovely Wang Tsu-Hsien. Next day, he has faked his bills and collects some money. He sees a painting of Miss Wang and is told that she was murdered over a year ago. Back at the temple, Wu shows him her grave. He still does not believe she is a ghost, but she admits it and says she must wed Lord Haak (aka Yama lord of the land of the dead) in 3 days. He is naive and does not realize she lured men into the hands of a vampire but saved him from ghosts and vampires. He vows to save her and enlists Wu's help. They find her ashes in a jar and are to bury them in her family cemetery, so that she can reincarnate. On the journey, Haak seizes the jar. Our heroes follow him to Hell, and there is an epic battle. Wu is badly wounded but wins. After the funeral, the 2 heroes ride off chasing a rainbow. In #2, Les finds a twin for his lost love. Miss Wang is that girl. 33 is back at LanRyo Temple, 100 years after #1. Miss Wang is another lovely ghost who meets Tony Leung as a wandering monk. Most series lose steam, but this one is interesting in all 3 episodes. Tragically, the gay Leslie jumped off a building to his death at age 43 in 2002.

First one that comes to mind is Star Wars, then The Godfather.

You'd have to break it down to genres. But in my opinion I like the two Star War's trilogies. I am hoping they finish the franchise with parts 7-9 before i die.
