"There were two things being tested here:
1. If buttered toast falls off the table, does it prefer to land butter side down
2. If a buttered toast falls through the air, which side does it prefer to fall on?
Results for 1:
11 up and 13 down with control sample
12 up and 12 down with buttered sample
They determined this to be "less biased", so they then brought it to the roof of MythBusters HQ. From the top of the roof:
Results for 2:
26 up and 22 down with control sample
29 up and 19 down with buttered sample
Final score -- MYTH BUSTED!"

The same reason cats always land on their feet. It has been theorized that; if you strap a piece of buttered toast to the back of a cat, and drop it from a height of 3 feet, the two effects will cancel each other out, thus creating a spinning cat/toast generator. A small array might be enough to power a village. I do not, however, recommend trying this at home!
What I will say is that the probability of the toast landing buttered side down is inversely proportionate to the value of the carpet!

My cats hate you already lol however the blunders on your question is on fantasy Busters the dropped an entire lotta toast and actually there replaced into no butter area down effect it got here out exceptionally a lot 50 / 50. So now you have in simple terms made a multitude for no longer something. yet i'm curious if yo u tie a penny to a cat and drop it off the sears tower will it bypass by some ones cranium? in simple terms kidding that concept is faulty additionally, optimum velocity messes it up.

The Mythbusters did a test on that in one of their episodes. I don't recall the exact results, but the toast didn't always land butter side down.

LOL, Its always the way ain't it. I don't know why really. Maybe because the butter likes to stick on the floor and make a mess for you to clean so the butter can soak into the toast and make it all soggy for ya?

I saw a guy explain it in Physical terms. The height from the table to floor is such that it can't rotate enough, when knocked off table, to do a full flip so since it starts buttered side up, it ends up down. LOL

Because the butter is heavier than no butter at all on the other side....the weight of the butter does that.

Heavier on that side? Happens to me all the time, too. I'd like to see it in stop-motion photography just once, wouldn't you?
