I've always loved playing video games...from when I was a young kid playing my NES and Genesis, to my college days of PC gaming and now XBox 360. The thing is, I really just don't have much time to play games anymore. Once in a while I'll play some sports games when friends are over, or play a new single player game when I have some time off, but otherwise, I try to stay away from games to focus on my studies.

Something I've always thought of, though, was about playing games when I'm older and retired. I look at my elder relatives, they seem so bored all the time and take up hobbies like watching Soap Operas and Wheel of Fortune and gardening and stuff. And I've always thought to myself, what am I going to do when I'm old and retired? I know - I'll spend some of my retirement money on the latest video game system and play games whenever I'm bored!

Is this realistic? Or will my interests change when I'm that old? We grew up in a completely different generation of entertainment.

I was born in 1987, and I started playing games when I was three. I'm still in college (almost done with my second year) but I agree with you in not having enough time to play video games as much I would like. I think now, once we reach college we have so many other things that we don't get to enjoy playing games or enjoying the hobbies that we love as much. If you go to college fulltime, and work parttime, theres still homework, spend time with family and friends, so you its hard to find 'me' time.

I still have several games on my shelf I have started but not been able to complete yet. Even last week on spring break our teachers were emailing us homework and projects to do. But, once we get jobs we'll be working fulltime (amount depending on how good of a job you get). As we get older we'll have less time to do things than we did when we were kids or teens.

Sometimes our hobbies do change as we grow older. Just as in our youth when one year we loved G.I. Joes/Barbies then the next year was hooked on Pokemon and Digimon. Some hobbies are sure to change, but you never know, some people who were part of that very first gamer generation are still hooked and more nowadays are older generations getting into video games. By the time we're old, there'll probably be Final Fantasy 35, Halo 7 and mircosoft, nintendo and sony will still be around even if they aren't making consoles anymore.

Well, im at uni age 19 and still play ps2 when I have time. Obviously I dont have the time to play loads like when I was younger.

My parents dont play at all, but I think I will always play even when im a dad etc. We have been brought up with computers etc so I would rather have some time on a console than watching tv all the time (like my dad does).

Although I will be limited on time, some games such as Pro Evo I will always play when I can.

But there may be more technology introduced when we old which we dont use and dont bother to learn about. Some of my friends dads play the 360 etc and there like 30-40 years old. Thats what I will be like :)

I was born in '75 and I assume I'll play video games forever. I will try to discourage my kids though. My wife, born in '81 can't stand video games. Maybe it is a guy thing...
