Hi. I read your question.
I know that my answer is probably not what you expect or want to hear but here goes anyway. You say that the level of your friend`s hand hygiene is making you ill. Well I cannot deny the fact that if you are exposed to germs then you are faced with a threat. But we are all faced with similar threats on a daily basis and yet some of us come down with somehting and other do not. The difference of course depends on the state of your immune system.
Naturally you have to be getting the right nutrients in your diet to strengthen this. Reular vit c and zinc and also occasional courses of echinacea can help however...... and a big however. The best way to strenthen your immune system is your mind.
I do not know you personally but I can tell you this.
By just reading the statement that you made i can say that it is a negative statement. you may or may not be feeling a little depressed. If this is so then your immune system suffers a great deal. So my suggestion is this.
Help yourself with the vitamins but even more important than that change your mindset.
You have got your subconscious mind believing that you will get sick beacuse of someone elses lack of hygiene. So you will. You need to stop yourself saying this right now. On the contrary, you need to give it no importance at all.
What you can do to help yourself is train your mind. One simple way that can help is this:
On a daily basis, just before sleeping at night, concentrate and say to yourself about 30 times
I am in perfect health, I am in perfect health
Do this everyday and stop thinking negatively.
Oh, and one other thing. If you have a problem with someone else`s hygiene maybe you shoudl tell them about it.
Please do not take this advice lightly. you may think it`s a load of ...... but it isn`t.
It will help you.

In the same way that a vaccine allows our body to fight a particular virus, germs and bacteria give our body's immune system "exercise" to a certain extent.

If you are frequently washing with anti-bacterial soap, it is actually possible you are eliminating some of the "training" your immune system gets on a daily basis.

I'm hardly suggesting that you run around and not wash your hands at all, but the old cliché of "everything in moderation" could be true, even with anti-bacterial soap. While this seems counter-intuitive, there is evidence to support the use of regular, non-bacterial soap.

The concept of health via dirt has become affectionately known as "The Pigpen Effect" in research circles. Please see the source below for additional information.

If you are very concerned, you should consult physician, though, as your health is nothing to play with. It is one of the few things we ever truly have in this world.

There is nothing better for boosting immunity than 'Transfer Factor Plus.' I used to get sick a lot and with TFP I got sick only twice this year. Is on the PDR, for nonprescription drugs and dietary supplement. Is natural and it could be use from 2 months old up, even pregnant woman can use it, it has no side effects and you will love it. You can ask your doctor or get it yourself through the Internet. If you have any question about it contact me at 4lifesuccess@gmail.com http://wilfredojr.my4life.com/transferfactor.aspx?pmode=7

Honestly, I've never understood this. I'm not a clean-freak but I wash my hands thoroughly before/ during cooking and always after the bathroom or cleaning.

I know a lot of guys do not and a lot of girls just sort of "splash" their hands wet. That's gross. If he's your b/f, you should be able to drop in some hints about how gross it is that people don't wash and even have a magazine article or facts from a web-site about the kinds of bacteria and germs on keyboards, phones, remote controls...Those are usually more filthy than bathrooms!

Stuff like that might get him thinking. I hope so!

Put some Germ-X, Purell or other brand of antibacterial gel on the sink next to the soap. Buy a larger one with a pump (looks like a soap bottle). You'd be surprised how it gets used when it's out in the open! And it's better than nothing.

I am dilligent as well, just keep in mind that too much washing is not good for the balance of your skin's fauna. Maybe this frequent little infections you're getting have something to do with overwashing too. It is like overusing of antibiotics: eventually bacteria and viruses become addicted to our disinfectants to the point of not being affected by them anymore
