It could be a month or more from the time the baby is engaged to the time you go into labor. Signs that you're getting even closer would be a sudden loss of a couple pounds or more (then only a few days left), loss of the mucus plug (could be a week or so left), and of course contractions (hours).

That means that the baby's head is engaged and is in the correct position for birth! It is a good and healthy sign! Pregnancy can be very tedious so be patient and get lots and lots of rest while you can, trust me you will need it when the baby arrives! Wow sudden bursts of energy baby maybe coming very soon! Also these pains that you mention are known as "Bracston Hicks" contractions! (I hope i spelled that correctly)

It means the baby is moving down low to get in position for birth, but it does not mean you will go into labor. It is just part of the whole process.

your bones start getting ready at their own time. everyone is different, and every pregnancy is different. talk to your doc at your next visit. the pressure of my first daughter made it feel like my pelvis was gonna break and she was gonna fall out. but she was born at 41 weeks, and even then i had to be induced. my second daughter came at 38 weeks, and i had no pelvic pain. theres no right answer... all i can say is good luck and congrads!
